The series “Soft Materials” explores corporeality as a space of contradiction—between fragility and protection, attraction and unease, strength and vulnerability. The organic forms resemble fragments of the body—joints, folds, tissues—that appear both animate and abstract. Here, softness carries a double meaning: as a physical property and as a metaphor for emotional openness, flexibility, and the capacity to adapt to change.
The title refers not only to artistic media but also to the concept of soft materials in physics—substances with unstable, fluid internal structures. This notion becomes a bridge between the body and psyche, matter and experience, each in a constant state of transformation. The dark, protective layers that envelop some figures suggest an effort to preserve softness in a world that often demands hardness.
The works trace a search for balance between the physical and the internal, between the maternal experience and the need for personal space. “Soft Materials” reflects on how the body can be simultaneously vulnerable and strong, how form can remain unstable yet alive. The series was presented at Green Sofa Gallery in Lviv in 2025.
